Faculty Curricula and Experiential Education

​Our faculty programs emphasize integrated and problem-based approaches to disease management, being the core of didactic and laboratory program of study. As an ACU student, you will gain diversified skills and meaningful practices that will be a valuable part of your college education.

​Pharmacy practice experiences ensure that students gain the best possible professional practice capabilities and skills. This is realized through students’ activities that are designed to develop health care practitioners able to meet the increasingly complex pharmacy profession and drug therapy needs of patients.

​ Concomitantly, students are supported by the ​Student Affairs Deanship, which provides academic advising and comprehensive services to all faculty students.

Clinical Pharmacy Unit


Vision:

To become a national leading unit in providing clinical pharmacy services to patients.

Mission:

The Clinical Pharmacy Services Unit is committed to provide services and pharmaceutical care to patients of the Oral and Dental Hospital and patients of the Physical Therapy Hospital under the supervision of professors and faculty members of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice in accordance with the latest clinical practices based on evidence and scientific research and the latest approved therapeutic guidelines to achieve optimal use of medication and avoid any medical errors or unwanted drug interactions. It also monitors patients at each visit and records the drug effect and side effects.

Aims:

Providing awareness services regarding the optimal use of medication for patients attending dental clinics and physical therapy at the university, to ensure maximum benefit from treatment plans and improve patients' quality of life.

Services:

- Ensure that the medication and dosage are appropriate for the patient.

- Ensure that there are no drug interactions between different medications for the patient.

- Provide the necessary medication education to the patient, which encourages the patient to adhere to the treatment plan. 

- Provide advice on changing the patient's lifestyle and diet to suit and improve their medical condition.

- Change patients' misconceptions about some medications or diseases. 

- Limit the improper use of some medications that are dispensed without consulting a doctor.

Drug Information Center

Vision:

The vision of the drug information center is to be at the forefront of enhancing Egypt's national healthcare service by establishing a model of excellence in the provision of unbiased, patient-oriented drug information services. We are dedicated to ensure that medication-related knowledge is readily accessible as well as empowering informed decisions about healthcare. We aspire to be a beacon of innovation and collaboration while fostering the culture of medication safety via responsible and rational use.

The mission of drug information center is to provide patient-oriented, evidence-based drug information services and to promote drug safety and responsible use in Egypt. We aim to offer reliable and unbiased medication-related knowledge to help individuals make informed decisions about their healthcare. We are committed to collaborating with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and the Egyptian Drug Authority to ensure the quality of our services and pharmaceutical safety. Educational Pharmacy

The educational pharmacy in our faculty is a pharmacy that simulates reality and provides continuing education programs to develop the capabilities and skills of students. Through workshops, simulations, and role-playing, it qualifies trainees to practice their occupation with great ease and professionalism.

Training services:

1- Providing electronic programs that teach students pharmacy practice skills.

2- Training students to review the medical ticket carefully and identify medication errors and how to deal with them.

3- Simulating different situations in dealing with members of the surrounding community, teaching students and providing them with communication skills necessary for dealing with patients, their families, as well as their fellow pharmacists and doctors.

4- Training to perform the usual dose calculations based on the patient’s body surface area, weight, or age.

5- Training students to perform some simple measurements of vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and blood sugar levels, ...etc.

6- Training students to dispense over-the-counter (OTC) medications and how to choose appropriate alternatives.


Educational services

1- Introducing students to different forms of medicine and how to take them.

2- Introducing students to how medicine is organized in public and private pharmacies and the optimal method for storing medicine.

3- Introducing students to the forms of medicines of plant origin and how to use them.

4- Helping students conduct scientific research on different groups of medicines.

5- Training students on the proper practice of the pharmacy profession.

6- Introducing students to the important role that the pharmacist plays in the surrounding environment.

7- Organizing scientific meetings in cooperation with major hospitals and pharmaceutical companies to explain the mechanism of drug action and learn about modern medicines.

8- Developing the personal skills of students in the field of pharmacy and how to deal with the public in preparation for their entry into the labor market.
